Von Lampertheim nach Europa und zurück

Länderübergreifendes Projekt "Images of Europe" in Schweden erfolgreich abgeschlossen

Lampertheim. Es gibt Stimmen, die behaupten, die "europäische Idee" komme nicht so recht in die Gänge. Zumindest aus Lampertheimer Sicht stimmt dies nicht, wie eine Abordnung aus Lehrern und Schülern von den Beruflichen Schulen Lampertheim (BSL) jetzt gemeinsam mit Vertretern anderer europäischer Schulen unter Beweis stellte. Vom 24. bis zum 28. April traf sich die Delegation mit Pädagogen und Schülern aus sieben anderen europäischen Ländern im schwedischen Lidköping. Ziel war es, Schlussbilanz zu ziehen und die Früchte aus drei Jahren intensiver Kommunikation im Rahmen des europäischen Comenius-Schulprojekts "Travellers and Tourists: Images of Europe" zu ernten.

Acht europäische Schulen hatten seit dem Frühjahr 2004 an dem Projekt gearbeitet und pro Jahr je zwei Treffen an den Standorten der Schulen organisiert. Die Initiative steht in Verbindung mit dem Comenius-Projekt, das mit Geldern der Europäischen Union gefördert wird. Wichtigstes Ziel ist es, bei Jugendlichen Solidarität und Toleranz zu wecken, um Europa zusammenzuführen und bei allen Beteiligten den europäischen Horizont zu erweitern.

Lehrer aus Mallorca ergriffen im Jahr 2003 die Initiative und hoben das Projekt im Frühjahr 2004 aus der Taufe. Eine Einladung von den Balearen erreichte auch die BSL, wo unter der Federführung von Oberstudienrätin Doris Zeilfelder und Schulleiter Wolfgang Freudenberger das Projekt weiterverfolgt wurde. Dank guter Verbindungen ergaben sich schnell Kontakte zu weiteren Schulen in Italien, Portugal sowie in Island, Schottland und Schweden.

Im März 2004 trafen sich Vertreter der beteiligten Schulen zum ersten Mal in Palma de Mallorca, um sich kennen zu lernen, das Projekt zu besprechen und einen gemeinsamen Arbeitstitel festzulegen. Gemeinsam entschied man sich für das Thema "Travellers and Tourists: Images of Europe", schließlich ergeben sich für Jugendliche durch Reisen die besten Möglichkeiten, andere Länder und Gebräuche kennen zu lernen und Sprachkenntnisse zu vertiefen. Und natürlich ist das Thema Europa-Tourismus auch für die Schüler aus Lampertheim als angehende Fremdsprachensekretäre eine ideale Aufgabe.

Um dem Projekt eine Struktur zu geben, teilte man es in drei Etappen ein. Während eines ersten Arbeitsschwerpunktes in den Jahren 2004 und 2005 lag das Augenmerk dabei auf den verschiedenen "Regionen" der teilnehmenden europäischen Länder, im Jahr darauf machten sich die Jugendlichen gegenseitig mit unterschiedlichen "Sitten und Gebräuchen" vertraut. In der abschließenden dritten Etappe in den Jahren 2006 und 2007 waren es dann die "Menschen" Europas, auf die der Fokus gelegt wurde.

Dabei setzten die Schüler völlig verschiedene Akzente. So gab es beim jetzigen Abschlusstreffen in Lidköping interessante Referate zu den Themen "Einwirkung des Massentourismus auf unsere Region" oder "Wie wirken sich Zweitwohnungen auf die Infrastruktur unserer Region aus?" oder "Verändert der Tourismus religiöse Sitten und Gebräuche?". In bunten PowerPoint-Präsentationen oder auch Filmen im DVD-Format - dies der Beitrag der hessischen Schüler, in eigener Regie in der heimatlichen Region gedreht und an den Beruflichen Schulen Lampertheim bearbeitet und geschnitten - wurde eine breite Palette von Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten sichtbar. zg

Year Three – Mission almost Impossible

Since last summer our class has been participating in this Comenius project. Our objectives were to deal with the tourists who come to our region and the people who live here.

Therefore we decided to visit the small towns in our region like, Heppenheim, Lorsch, and Worms, which are very popular for their old history and monuments.

We also went to Frankfurt to interview tourists in a big city. During our visits in those places we talked to different tourist from all over the world. The interviews were mostly tape-recorded to use them for our end product.

It was an awesome experience for us as well and gave us the opportunity not only to show our region to others but also to discover it for ourselves.

We had a lot of great moments of success, but also went through moments of disappointment.

At first, when people saw us with those cameras and tape-recorders they were scared and probably thought: “What are these girls trying to search and why are they hunting down people?!” We are telling you it was a hard job…. what a challenge!!

Our expression was: “We are working on a “Mission Impossible”…. but where is James Bond?? But in the end we didn’t need him because we made the Mission Possible by ourselves.

Memories of Iceland

From 13 till 19 November 2006 three of us – Claudia Della Bona, Katja Hanke and Fetije Karadja - participated in a project-meeting in Akureyri/Iceland. Our partner - school „Verkmentaskolinn Akureyri“ had invited us. After an extremely adventurous journey through snowstorm and ice, Mr. Kietzmann, Ms. Zeilfelder and the students arrived in Akureyri/North Iceland.

We, the students were accommodated in families who were very generous, friendly and hospitable (Thank you Gudrun and Björg).

In the course of the meeting we worked together with the Icelandic students of the „Art Department“ and we presented our work to the other countries in the form of a power point presentation which was very successful.

Besides, we had the opportunity to visit the country. Enthusiasm is too weak a word to describe our adventurous experience: a stunning landscape, friendly people and extreme weather conditions : it sounds incredible, but we took a bath at 15° C below zero…it was a pool with a hot spring, of course!!

Getting together with the other countries was also interesting, primarily because of the languages. Our basic rule was: forget German, speak English!

Our survival motto, which we heard already on the first day, was: DON´ T WORRY, IT´ S ICELAND!!!!!!!!!

European Day

On January 22, everywhere in Germany a „European Day“ was organized, an initiative during which politicians wanted to give students a better understanding of Europe. On this occasion our class, the 12FR of BSL, had the chance to present our Comenius project and we were also asked to help with the organisation.

Another class of our school cared for catering of the participants.

Looking back, our expectations were not really fulfilled. Our project couldn't find the attention we had hoped for and the conversations between politicians and students took only place in form of a panel discussion. Actually we had hoped that also critical topics would be mentioned.

Unfortunately, the politicians kept to themselves, so that our impression at the end of the day was: not bad but what did WE get from it?
